Saudi Arabia’s oil company, Aramco, has signed a contract for the development and modernization of the oilfield facilities of the Marjan field, shared with Iran in the Persian Gulf.
Under the deal, the U.S. company “Kellogg Brown & Root,” based in Texas, will provide services related to the development of the field’s gas production and processing sector.
Saudi Arabia intends to increase oil and gas production from the Marjan field (known in Iran as Forouzan) with a $21 billion investment.
Information from the “Iran Open Data Center,” based on official statistics, shows that Saudi Arabia currently produces 800,000 barrels of oil per day from this offshore field, while Iran’s oil production is only 350,000 barrels per day.
Saudi Arabia also produces 73 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Marjan field, while Iran produces no gas.
