Saudi Arabia’s energy minister said the country wants to increase its oil pipeline capacity to destinations outside the Persian Gulf to 10 million barrels per day within two to three years.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on Monday at the World Energy Congress in Riyadh, “We may reach 10 million barrels in the next two to three years.”

According to him, the plan includes improving the pumping stations of the East-West oil pipeline and converting a gas pipeline to transport crude oil.

The gas pipeline could carry about 1.2 million barrels per day within seven to eight weeks.

The East-West pipeline connects the eastern oil-producing province to the Red Sea and has been the main export route since the start of the war between the United States and Israel and the Islamic Republic.
