🔻Saudi Arabia, Russia and five other OPEC+ members are scheduled to decide on Sunday in an online meeting on increasing oil production quotas for the month of September; while the war in the Middle East continues to disrupt the global energy supply.

Jorge Leon, an analyst at the Rystad Energy institute, has predicted that the group will increase its output by 188,000 barrels per day. According to him, this increase is likely to be the final phase of the current series of production adjustments.

Between late 2022 and 2023, OPEC+ reduced its production in three stages, in total by nearly six million barrels per day, in response to falling oil prices. Several members of the group began gradually increasing production starting in 2025.

However, analysts say that many OPEC+ members, due to reduced production capacity, are unable to reach the official production ceiling set, and that the quota increases have a limited impact in practice.

Gulf states on the Arabian Peninsula have also faced difficulties in increasing oil exports due to widespread disruption in traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
