🔻Saudi Arabia issues a warning to its citizens in two areas bordering Yemen

The Saudi Civil Defense Authority on Sunday issued warnings about the possibility of attacks in two areas bordering Yemen.

The warnings, issued for the city of Abha and the area around the city of Khamis Mushait, were quickly withdrawn.

The issuing of these warnings came shortly after Houthi media reported attacks by Saudi Arabia on northern Yemen, near the border.

Fighting between Iran-backed Houthis and Saudi Arabia-backed Yemeni government forces has intensified since last week.

After the Houthis announced reciprocal a maritime blockade on July 20 (29 Tir) in response to Saudi Arabia’s blockade, their clashes with the forces of the Yemeni government escalated.

Last week, in a major offensive, the Houthis took full control of the western coast of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait, driving out government forces.
