🔻Saudi Arabia has decided to cancel the participation of attendees in its annual investment conference, known as “Davos in the Desert.”

According to four sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Reuters, the decision was made following deadly attacks in recent weeks and the escalation of the war by the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthi rebels allied with Iran.

Saudi officials have not responded to Reuters’ request for comment.

According to the sources, the Davos in the Desert conference, which was scheduled to take place from October 26 to 29 (November 4 to 7), will now either be held virtually or at another time.

This is the 10th edition of the investment conference that brings together some of the world’s most prominent financial figures.

Davos in the Desert, which takes its name from the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, provides a platform to showcase Saudi Arabia’s ambitious investment plans, aimed at attracting billions of dollars in funding to finance its economic transformation program, including the transition from an economy dependent on fossil fuels toward tourism and sports and technology.
