🔶 Rubio: In negotiations over the Strait of Hormuz, we may reach an agreement very soon

Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said on Tuesday that Washington and Tehran have not yet finalized talks regarding passage through important international waterways, but progress has been made in these negotiations, and the United States hopes to reach an agreement “very soon.”

Rubio told reporters at the U.S. State Department: “In negotiations with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, progress has been made.”

According to him, negotiations between Oman and Iran are underway regarding the safe passage of more ships through the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States is also participating in these discussions.

Rubio added that “Tehran and Muscat’s talks on safe maritime passage are taking place alongside the move toward broader talks on Iran’s nuclear program.”

The U.S. foreign minister further said that “some commercial ships have been able to pass through the region’s waterways despite efforts to prevent their passage,” adding: “The United States is participating in discussions and negotiations between Oman and Iran to determine how, in the short term, more ships can travel through these routes with security.”
