🔶 Rubio: Even if the regime doesn’t change, Iran’s government must change
Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said in an interview with Fox News that Iran’s government “must change,” although, according to him, this does not necessarily mean a change of regime.
Rubio said: “You might not have regime change, but the government must change.”
He added that the Islamic Republic wants to “export the revolution,” and this behavior must be changed.
The U.S. foreign minister said the only way to change this behavior is to make the cost for Tehran so high that it no longer has the ability to pay for it.
Rubio also referred to Iran’s nuclear program and said Trump still stands by the position that Iran should never gain access to nuclear weapons.
He claimed that U.S. military pressure has made Iran more eager to reach agreements on nuclear disarmament and the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. foreign minister praised Trump’s Iran policy and said that in recent decades the Islamic Republic has not faced a president like him.
Rubio said: “I don’t think the Iranian regime has ever faced a president like Trump; someone who really takes action.”
