Reuters reported that based on shipping data from the analytical platform Kpler, the movement of ships through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has declined following the Houthis’ attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coasts and the announcement of a naval blockade against the country.
According to these data, on Sunday 11 cargo ships passed through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which is the lowest figure in recent months.
Seven of these ships were oil tankers, with three entering the Red Sea and four leaving it.
Meanwhile, Kpler data shows that despite the pause in reciprocal attacks between the United States and Iran, during the last weekend holidays, fewer than 10 ships per day have passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
Based on Reuters’ report, on Saturday only three ships with transponders switched off passed through this strait. While on Sunday seven ships passed, including three oil tankers carrying petroleum products associated with Iran, as they were exiting the strait.
