🔶 Reuters: Iraqiچی received the U.S. response to Iran’s seven-day plan
On Wednesday, 8 Mehr (30 September), Reuters, citing an informed source, reported that Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, received the United States’ response to Tehran’s proposed “seven-day plan,” and that he is expected to discuss it in Tehran on Wednesday.
Araqchi and Iran’s negotiating team met with Qatari mediators in Doha on Tuesday evening, and Washington’s response during the course of these talks was conveyed to the Iranian side.
According to Reuters’ source, the main disagreement between Tehran and Washington at present is over the order of implementation of the proposed steps, and not over the substance and elements of the plan.
The seven-day plan was designed to build confidence and return to a strengthened version of the “Islamabad Understanding,” an agreement that Iran and the United States had reached in June 2026.
Araqchi had previously said that if the conditions proposed by Iran are accepted by the United States, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened at the end of a seven-day period and negotiations between the two countries would resume.
