Reuters, citing three informed sources, reported that the Islamic Republic is expected to receive, within a few weeks, the first shipment of 400 shoulder-fired missile launchers made in China, including “QW-12” and “FN-16” missiles, worth $60 to $70 million.

According to this report, the contract was signed with the International Investment Company Zhongqing Baoshang, based in Hong Kong, which acts as an intermediary between the two countries.

The purchase is one of the largest efforts by the Iranian government to strengthen its short-range air defenses since the outbreak of war with the United States and Israel, exposing gaps in the Islamic Republic’s ability to protect military sites and strategic infrastructure.
