🔻Reuters, citing a U.S. official who asked not to be named, said that on Wednesday about 60 commercial ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz and were carrying the highest daily volume of crude oil since early July.

This comes as tensions between the United States and Iran continue.

The U.S. official added that about 40 of those vessels had coordinated with the U.S. armed forces to provide security.

Based on this report, on Wednesday in total, about 22 million barrels of oil passed through this strategic passage.

As an agreement between Iran and the United States failed to materialize, oil prices in today’s global markets rose for a second consecutive day and held on to their upper range above $100.

A barrel of Brent crude for delivery in November reached above $105.50.

Over the past two days, Iranian officials had been in contact with U.S. representatives on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, which had raised the likelihood that the two sides were nearing an agreement.
