🔻The Regional Quds Base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces confirmed on Wednesday, the first of Mehr, that Brigadier General Hossein Zareifi, commander of the “Martyr Sajjad” operational command in Saravan, and Major Ahmad Herati Zarati, the intelligence officer of the Sajjad command, were killed in an armed clash.

According to Iranian news agencies, in these clashes, five members of the armed group were also killed and “a number of weapons and quantities of ammunition” were discovered from the hiding place of this armed team.

A group known as the “Front of the People’s Combatants” announced in a statement that its forces took part in this armed clash. According to the statement, military and security forces attacked the location where the group’s members were based in Jihadabad (Dab), Saravan County, and other forces of the group entered the fighting to support the members who were surrounded.

The “Front of the People’s Combatants” was announced last year following the merger of several groups, including the “Padā Baluch Movement,” “Nasser Movement of Balochistan,” and the “Jaysh al-Adl Organization.”

In recent months, clashes in the Saravan region between military and security forces and armed groups opposed to the government have increased.
