⚡Qatar warned about the consequences of shutting the vital Bab el-Mandeb waterway.

A senior official at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told reporters: “The world is already suffering enough from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, so we cannot add Bab el-Mandeb to this equation.”

Ibrahim Al Hashemi said that the closure of the southern entrance to the Red Sea “will be disastrous for the whole world.” He added: “We are seeing its consequences in advance, so Qatar is pursuing diplomacy and dialogue.”

The warning was issued after months of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the Houthis’ recent advance on the Red Sea coast.
