Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson said negotiations between Oman and the Islamic Republic have reached an advanced stage. Majed Al Ansari said on Tuesday: “We have heard positive feedback from both countries.”

He said the negotiations are at a sensitive stage and that Qatar supports all efforts to reduce tensions. Al Ansari added that Doha, as mediators, is seeking the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible.

Last week, Al Ansari had said that the proposed text of an agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic is being passed among the parties and that negotiations are in “very advanced stages.”

Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, said on Sunday that these talks are technical and do not mean the reopening of the strait; reopening is conditional on other conditions being met by the United States.

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, on Monday, in response to the Islamic Republic’s request for compensation, called for compensation from this government.
