🔶 Qatar: Iran–US talks behind closed doors

Qatar announced that negotiations between Iran and the United States are still ongoing, and despite increased tensions and concerns about clashes restarting, both sides are engaged in diplomatic efforts.

As reported by the Qatari English-language newspaper “Peninsula,” Majed Al Ansari, adviser to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday, October 20 (28 Mehr) at the “Global Security Forum” in Doha: “The talks on the JCPOA continue and we are seeing the participation of both sides.”

He, referring to the confidential nature of these efforts, added: “The fact that we do not hear news about these negotiations is a good sign that we are doing our work properly.”

Al Ansari stressed that mediation has a greater chance of success when it is carried out behind closed doors.

The spokesperson of Qatar’s foreign ministry also, in response to the expansion of regional tensions, emphasized his country’s firm support for Saudi Arabia in defending its sovereignty against this attack.
