Qasem Bayat, CEO of the oil company of the city of Houston in the state of Texas, referring to a Bloomberg report about Saudi oil being supplied near the coasts of Oman, said that alternative routes and transporting oil by ship can only make up for part of the exports that had previously been carried out through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, these solutions are temporary and do not have the capacity to return regional oil exports to the level before the crisis; however, the gradual reduction of the world’s dependence on Persian Gulf oil in the long term could lessen the importance of this strait.
