🔻Public Relations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced that a supertanker carrying crude oil collided with a sea mine in the southern Strait of Hormuz this afternoon (Sunday, 11 October / 19 Mehr), and as a result of the incident, “the ship’s engine room suffered an explosion and a fire.”

According to this statement, the tanker, while trying to leave the Strait of Hormuz, “turned off its navigation systems and, by passing through an unauthorized route,” suffered this accident.

In another part of the statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that ships present in the Strait of Hormuz area that turn off their navigation and identification systems would be identified as “hostile” vessels and that they would be “dealt with severely and decisively.”

The statement did not provide any information about the identity of the tanker.

Iran says that vessels must pass through the Strait of Hormuz via the route this country has designated.
