🔸Protests and strikes by high school students in France continued on Friday, the tenth of Mehr.
🔸The protesting students, by setting fires in front of schools, threw stones and sticks at police forces that were firing tear gas.
🔸The unrest, which had initially started in the Paris suburbs in protest at crowded classrooms, the shortage of teachers, and insufficient educational and welfare facilities in schools, gradually spread throughout all of France.
🔸These protests have generally been peaceful, but over time they have also grown in violence.
🔸The French government, while emphasizing students’ right to express their opinions and file complaints about the conditions in schools, warned that it will not tolerate violent behavior.
🔸In one case, a group of teenagers chased and surrounded a police officer, then subjected him to blows with fists and kicks.
🔸Édouard Geoffroy, France’s education minister, warned that the movement of high school students has been “taken hostage” by violent groups.
🔸According to him, at least 65 school staff members, including 40 principals, have been injured.
