Poland’s president said he hopes the United States finalizes the plan to build a permanent military base in this country, and if it happens, the base will be called “Fort Trump.”

On Tuesday, Karol Nawrocki, in an interview with Bloomberg Television on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, said that the decision about this base is “only a matter of time.” He added that he hopes the base will be built before the end of Donald Trump’s term in office so that the U.S. president will personally attend the inauguration ceremony.

Poland currently hosts about 10,000 American troops on a rotational basis. Nawrocki said that if the United States reduces its military presence in Germany, Poland is prepared to accept part of these forces.

He added: “We are in the middle of a hybrid war. Russian provocations shape the battlefield of the future and test NATO’s resilience.”
