📸 Photo of the day: Lantern light in the heart of the night

The Akita Kanto Festival in the city of Akita is considered one of the three major festivals in the Tohoku region of Japan, held from the 3rd to the 6th of August. Participants in this festival skillfully hold decorated bamboo poles, lit with paper lanterns using candles, in their hands, on their shoulders, and even on their foreheads. Some of these bamboo poles reach heights of 12 meters, sending the glow of the candle through the paper lanterns into the darkness of night.
