🔻 Phone Call Between Iraqchi and His Qatari Counterpart on the Strait of Hormuz
🔻 Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, on Tuesday spoke by phone with Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussing the latest developments in the region and ongoing negotiations.
According to CBS, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two sides discussed “the latest developments in the region, especially the ongoing negotiations between Oman and Iran to establish a shared temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a joint plan to clear mines from this strait.”
According to Qatar’s foreign ministry, Al Thani, in this call, emphasized Qatar’s “full support for diplomatic efforts and all attempts to find a solution that guarantees freedom of navigation and paves the way for reaching a comprehensive agreement that provides a basis for lasting peace in the region.”
On Tuesday as well, Abbas Araghchi wrote on social media: “Iran’s commitment to peace and stability is accompanied by robust diplomacy with its neighbors. In talks with Pakistani and Omani guests, regional solutions were emphasized.”
He added that these discussions also covered “the proposed framework for a new corridor, joint mine clearance, and future management of the Strait of Hormuz.”
