🔻Pezhman Jamshidi’s lawyers said on Sunday, 4 Mordad, that he has been acquitted of the charge of rape and has been sentenced to 99 lashes for the charge of “an improper relationship beneath adultery.”
🔹Meliqa Parasdoust, the complainant in the case, also told Emtedad that the Supreme Court confirmed the ruling without change after an appeal.
🔹Ali Mohammadzadeh said he will appeal the ruling because, in his view, his client should not have been convicted of an improper relationship as well.
🔹Kambiz Borjas, another lawyer for Jamshidi, also told Mehr News Agency that the final decision has been issued and that the whipping sentence is “awaiting execution.”
🔹The two lawyers’ statements about the current stage of the proceedings are not the same; Mohammadzadeh spoke about appealing the whipping sentence to the Supreme Court, but Borjas described it as final and on the verge of being carried out.
🔹In contrast, Meliqa Parasdoust, the complainant, told the Emtedad website that the sentence of 99 lashes, after an appeal, was referred to Branch 29 of the Supreme Court and confirmed without change.
🔹Parasdoust emphasized that Jamshidi’s acquittal of the rape charge does not change her account of sexual violence.
