🔶 Pezeshkian: Current conditions are the toughest period in the history since the 1979 Islamic Revolution

Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, said that the country is still under increasing pressure caused by sanctions and disputes, describing the current period as “the most difficult period from the time of the 1979 (1357) Islamic Revolution up to now.”

On Wednesday, 14 Mordad, in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s state broadcaster on the occasion of the second anniversary of his swearing-in, he referred to efforts to revive diplomacy between Tehran and Washington and said that sanctions have been continuously intensified and have been followed by a military standoff.

Pezeshkian said in the interview: “In any case, the situation we are facing now has been the most difficult conditions possible throughout the history since the revolution. There were sanctions, and they became even more severe. Then they also sanctioned our banks and our financial processes. They were not satisfied with that, and they started a war. Again, they were not satisfied with that, and they besieged us. That is to say, in the worst possible conditions, they want to immobilize us.”
