🔶 Pentagon: We have pulled all B-1 bombers out of Britain
The United States has returned all 12 B-1 bombers deployed at the British air base of Fairford to the United States. In recent months, this base has been used as one of the U.S. centers for the deployment and operations of long-range bombers, and the departure of these aircraft has taken place amid growing security concerns about the base.
“The Wall Street Journal” was the first outlet to publish this news and, citing American officials, reported that all B-1 bombers deployed in Fairford were in the process of returning to the United States.
A few hours later, however, the Pentagon also officially confirmed the report and, in a statement, said that due to security considerations, it was not possible to confirm the movement of personnel and equipment at the time of the operation, but that it can now confirm that all American bombers deployed in Fairford have returned to their main bases in the United States.
The U.S. Department of Defense (War) also emphasized that the B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers remain capable of carrying out long-range missions from U.S. soil.
