🔻Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, in his speech at the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly, criticized the continued Israeli military operations in Gaza and said that Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is still continuing with “genocide” in the region.

Mr. Sánchez said on Wednesday that in response to the situation in Gaza, Spain has applied sanctions so far and intends to take further actions against Israel.

In recent months as well, the prime minister of Spain has been among the critics of the policies of the Israeli government in the war in Gaza. The Spanish government had previously announced a set of measures, including restrictions related to arms exports and military cooperation with Israel.

Sánchez also discussed the crises in Gaza and the Middle East in a meeting on Wednesday, September 22, with António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The office of the prime minister of Spain said that the two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation in conditions in which conflicts, including the war in Gaza, continue.
