🔻OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has fired three of its own researchers over accusations of mishandling information; one of the allegations involves collaborating with a foreign organization to analyze artificial intelligence models.
A spokesperson for the company told the BBC: “Our investigations confirmed that these individuals did not properly manage sensitive information outside the company’s established procedures, violated our policies, and undermined the essential trust required for our work.”
OpenAI has not named the employees who were fired, but at least two of them were working at the company on research related to AI safety.
The dismissal comes as, in recent weeks, discussions about AI safety and the potential dangers of this technology to humanity have intensified.
OpenAI’s spokesperson said: “We ended our cooperation with three individuals who had violated our policies regarding access to and how we handle sensitive information.”
