The oil-tanker tracking company, Tanker Trackers, has released a report based on satellite images, saying the source of widespread oil pollution in Qeshm is the bulk carrier “Minowan Pioneer,” which was recently targeted by the Islamic Republic at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted this oil tanker, flying the flag of Liberia and managed by a Greek company, on 12 Mordad near the Musandam province of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, and it caught fire.

Tanker Trackers described the spread of the oil spill from this vessel into Iranian waters as a “blow to” the Islamic Republic.

According to reports by Iranian media and satellite images, the oil pollution has not only spread to waters around Qeshm Island, but has also extended into the range of the Hara forests of the Iranian village of “Naqasheh.”

Islamic Republic officials have not yet announced the cause of the oil leak, and say they are investigating the issue.
