News sources in northern Iraq have reported multiple explosions in Erbil—the Kurdistan Region—and have said the U.S. consulate in this city was targeted by attacks.
Al Jazeera reported at least seven explosions and said they occurred near the buildings of the U.S. consulate and diplomatic offices in this city.
However, Tasnim News Agency—close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—reported, through the publication of images, that the positions of Kurdish groups opposed to the government of Iran were “targeted.”
Like Al Jazeera, Tasnim also reported seven explosions, but it said the “attacks and explosions” took place in Khleifan and Soran in Iraq’s Erbil.
So far, no report has been released about any possible damage from these attacks.
