🔶Netanyahu: It is still too early to say Iran played a role in the attack on the Dubai–Tel Aviv flight
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, says that the co-pilot of a passenger aircraft, who apparently stabbed the pilot with a knife in an attempt to bring down the plane on its route from Dubai to Israel, was “driven by the influence of extremist Islamism” and clearly had “the intention to commit suicide.” Speaking on Thursday, October 1 (Mehr 9), in an interview with Fox News, he added that “this is what (for now) we have obtained from the personal information concerning him.”
The disaster on FlyDubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, which occurred on Wednesday, was prevented by the injured pilot’s attempt to open the cockpit door, allow passengers into the cabin, and contain the attacker. A reserve crew member on board landed the aircraft at the Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. More than 170 people were on the plane.
Two Israeli security officials said that Israel’s initial assessment is that the co-pilot, whom Israeli officials identify as an Omani national, likely acted alone; however, the investigations are still continuing
