Rescue forces and the Nepalese army have said that, following the occurrence of a devastating flood in this country, so far they have rescued 95 people, including nine foreign nationals.

Nepalese government officials said that the overflow of a major river in this country has led to the destruction of houses and bridges and damage to part of a hydropower plant.

According to reports, within just a few hours, the river water level at one point increased from two meters to nearly 8.5 meters.

So far, the disappearance of five people has been confirmed.

Nepal’s Natural Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Organization says more than 200 houses have been damaged and more than 650 people have been affected by this flood.

The country’s army has announced that it has deployed four helicopters for search and rescue operations to areas affected by the flooding.

The cause of this recent flood is still unclear. Some experts say that landslides may for a time have blocked the river’s course or one of its tributaries, causing the accumulated water to be released suddenly, while others say residents upstream witnessed an ice avalanche.
