The top NATO commander in Europe said the armies of European countries are facing a shortage of manpower.

General Alexus Grinkovitch, in an interview with Bloomberg, said that the shortage of personnel is the most important obstacle to the rapid expansion of European forces.

According to him, recruiting soldiers alone does not create an operational unit, because the unit needs experienced commanders at all levels, and training lower-, mid-, and senior-level commanders takes time.

Grinkovitch said European countries should review conscription service laws and that a number of countries have begun the review.

He has been the top NATO commander in Europe and, at the same time, the commander of U.S. forces in Europe since Tir 1404.
