The MSNavi news network reported that the United States and European countries are putting pressure on Oman to accept the Islamic Republic’s conditions for reaching a temporary deal aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

According to this outlet, under the current version of the proposal, the entry route through the Strait of Hormuz and part of the exit route will be in Iran’s territorial waters and under the temporary control of the Islamic Republic.

A senior Middle East diplomat, aware of negotiations between Tehran and Muscat, said that if this agreement is finalized, the Islamic Republic will have greater control over this strategic waterway than it did before the start of the war.

George Perkovich, a Carnegie Foundation expert, also said that such an agreement would provide Tehran with an important pressure lever.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph newspaper reported that another plan is under consideration under which Gulf countries and a number of European countries would provide funding for the services and maintenance of the Strait of Hormuz through a voluntary fund.
