More than 100 ice-class commercial fleet vessels will be built for the Northern Sea Route, Russian Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov said.

"To the eight nuclear-powered icebreakers that we already have, which is a unique fleet on a global scale, another four will be added," the minister noted.

The work is underway to develop the infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, he added.
