Mohsen Amiriosfi, the deputy chairman of the House of Cinema, said in response to the proposal to address the issue of controlling underground cinema that this development is the result of years of restrictions, arrests, and censorship in Iranian cinema, and that any attempt to supervise it will be futile.
In a note published on Sunday, 25 Mordad 1405, in the newspaper Etemad, Amiriosfi wrote that underground cinema is an important part of today’s Iranian cinema that has taken shape in response to existing limitations and, according to him, is the voice of a generation of young filmmakers who no longer accept production permits, screening permits, and censorship.
