Mirad Vaisi, senior analyst at Iran International, said: “Both the signs that a hard winter and the danger of famine are ahead are seen in the accounts of the government officials and the country’s economists. Prominent economists say that if the situation continues in the same way, there is a risk of famine. Masoud Pezeshkian’s interview with IRIB was, in fact, a report on the bankruptcy of the government and the Islamic Republic. He told the people to tolerate high prices and inflation, because famine was supposed to happen—and since famine has not occurred, they should give thanks to God.”
