Miki Zohar, Israel’s Minister of Culture, said that immediate actions to revoke the citizenship of two Israeli documentary filmmakers Naza will be carried out. The documentary examines an AI-based system that the Israeli army uses to carry out attacks in Gaza.
On Sunday — September 13 / 22 Ordibehesht — Zohar wrote on the social media platform X that Yuval Avraham and Rachel Zur betrayed Israel.
On Saturday, the documentary “Naza” won a special award from the jury at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, and after the screening, viewers stood and applauded for 25 minutes. This was one of the longest standing ovations in the history of the festival.
Naza is the title of this documentary, an acronym for a term the Israeli army uses to refer to the number of civilians who may be killed in air strikes.
Avraham and Zur, along with two Palestinian filmmakers, won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Documentary for the documentary “There Is No Other Land,” which addressed the expulsion of Palestinians from villages in the occupied West Bank. 📷EPA/Shutterstock
