🔻Member of the Majles Economic Commission: U.S. naval blockade creates problems in imports

🔻Jafar Qadari, a member of the Majles Economic Commission, says that the U.S. naval blockade has created problems for imports into Iran.

Mr. Qadari said that “83 percent of the ‘210 million tons’ of Iran’s imports” are through the southern sea borders, which has caused problems with the U.S. naval blockade.

He, while stating that we have a daily “15 to 20 million liters” shortfall in gasoline, said that “importing each liter of gasoline costs the government about one dollar.” Therefore, he said, “it is not logical that we supply gasoline as in the past without limits, when ‘some of it is also smuggled.’”

According to this Majles member, the government should put certain controls on its agenda; meaning that “quotas should be reduced or adjusted in a way that creates balance through changes in price.”
