🔻Member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly: Iran is negotiating with the United States in the name of Oman

Ahmad Bakhshayeshtan, a member of the National Security Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said in an interview with “Iran Watch” that: “Iran is now, in the Strait of Hormuz, in the name of Oman, now negotiating with the United States.”

He said: “Seventy-five percent of the Strait of Hormuz belongs to us, and if Iran charges passage fees for ships, one quarter of the tariff belongs to Oman and three quarters belongs to Iran.”

He also said: “At present, Oman is also negotiating with Iran on behalf of the United States, and they have agreed that Iran will take a 7 percent tariff of the ships’ cargo as well as have management of the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iran says that any potential agreement over the Strait of Hormuz would be limited to this country and Oman.
