A member of Iraq’s Security and Defense Committee said a delegation has been formed that includes political officials representing different Iraqi factions and will travel to Iran to negotiate over the passage of oil-carrying tankers of this country.

Ahmad Al-Khaežali, in announcing this to the Al-Sumaria News website, emphasized that the passage of Iraqi oil through the Strait of Hormuz is the main focus of talks during this trip.

For months, Baghdad has sought assurances through various channels for the passage of its oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

As reported by IRNA, Baghdad had raised its request through several channels, including during the visit of Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, to Iraq.
