🔶 Iraqchi meets with Barrot: France has joined illegal US sanctions

Abbas Iraqchi on Tuesday, September 22 (31 Shahrivar), on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly summit in New York and during a meeting with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s minister of foreign affairs, criticized what he called “France’s meddlesome positions toward Iran.”

The Iranian foreign minister emphasized the need for the French embassy to “respect the laws and regulations of Iran’s domestic system.”

Iraqchi also, during the meeting, described France’s positions regarding regional developments—especially the war by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic—as “unacceptable,” and characterized France’s approach to human rights as “dual.” He accused the country of also “cooperating in implementing the illegal US sanctions against the people of Iran.”

The Iranian foreign minister, meanwhile, claimed that the Islamic Republic “is committed to relationships based on respect and mutual interests with all countries, including France,” but will act “seriously and firmly” in defending its interests and national interests.
