Masoumeh Taherkhani, an economic analyst, told Iran International that instead of presenting an operational plan to manage the currency crisis, the government is merely reporting the unfavorable state of the economy.
She emphasized that the remarks by the head of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran about reducing demand for foreign currency could mean further rationing of foreign currency and intensifying inflationary expectations; conditions that, according to her, could lead to hoarding of goods, expansion of the black market, and a further increase in the exchange rate.
