Maritime traffic in the Bab el-Mandeb and Hormuz straits remained almost unchanged at the start of the week, while progress in talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic remains unclear.
Based on data from Kepler, 20 vessels—including 12 oil tankers and eight bulk carriers—passed through Bab el-Mandeb on Monday, which is the same as the day before.
Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz remained slow. Six vessels—including three oil tankers and three bulk carriers—crossed this strait on Monday, showing a decrease compared with seven vessels the day before. All six vessels transited through the route designated by the Islamic Republic.
Some vessels may have transited with their tracking system turned off, which was not included in this count.
