🔶 Maritime accident in Java; dozens of passengers of the Indonesian ship are missing after it sank
Following a maritime accident and the sinking of a passenger vessel in Indonesia, six people have died. According to a statement by rescue forces, more than 120 passengers of this ship are missing. Around 115 passengers were also rescued by other ships that were passing through the waters of Java.
Rescue operations are still ongoing in the rough waters of the Java Sea, and it is hoped they will be able to save others.
The ship “Virgo Transportation 8” set sail from the city of Surabaya in eastern Java on Saturday, September 12 (September 21). The destination was the city of Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan. Indonesia’s Search and Rescue Agency announced that this passenger ship, with 243 passengers, had been reported missing after losing contact in the early hours of Sunday (local time) and in unfavorable weather conditions.
