🔻Marco Rubio said he is ready to meet with Iranian officials on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

The U.S. foreign minister said: “I don’t think anything is currently planned, but we are certainly prepared for such a meeting, especially if the prospect of it results in something positive and ultimately fulfills the main objective.”

Mr. Rubio said that what he means by such a prospect is that “Iran can never have nuclear weapons.”

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, has been in New York since Monday, and Hossein Masoud Pezeshkian has also gone to the city to give a speech at the General Assembly.

Two days ago, Donald Trump told Fox News that he is prepared to meet with Masoud Pezeshkian.
