Marco Rubio on Cuba:

I’m sure that, by the end of the current administration, Cuba will be heading—on an irreversible path—toward a future that is completely different.

I always tell people: you can’t uproot something that has been in place for 70 years overnight and expect to put something completely new in its place. There needs to be a transition period and a process.

I think Cuba will be on that path, and it has no other choice. This is a priority for us because it aligns with the national interests of the United States.

I care about Cuba and, naturally, I have a personal connection to it, but I’m not working for Cuba; I’m working for the United States. And I believe it is in our country’s national interests for Cuba to be a country that is safe, stable, and aligned with the United States.
