Mahsa Mortezavi — Following the sending of letters by Canada’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship office (IRCC) to hundreds of Iranian applicants who have a record of having served in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the office said in response to Iran International that the final decision about each applicant will be made on a case-by-case basis.

In a statement that was made available exclusively to Iran International, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship office emphasized that the final decision regarding applicants who have a record of service or ties to the IRGC will be made after a complete review of the documents, the relevant legal procedures, and the recommendations of security institutions, including the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).

Field reports indicate that in recent months, hundreds of Iranian applicants, including individuals who had served only their mandatory conscription period in the IRGC, have received letters of “procedural fairness” (PFL).
