🔻Luis Figo, the former Real Madrid star and Ballon d’Or winner of 2000, in a public open letter published in the Daily Mail, launched sharp attacks against Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA. Figo, who had supported Infantino in the FIFA presidential election in 2015, has now completely changed his position and called for his immediate resignation.
🔹The Portuguese football legend, referring to the recent controversies surrounding FIFA’s new projects, wrote: “The behavior I have seen in recent days was the ugliest, most unhealthy, and most selfish behavior I have ever witnessed. Anyone who does something like this has no place in the future of football.”
🔹Figo then continued with a direct tone: “Infantino has discredited the position of FIFA president. He has lied, cheated, and tried to enrich himself at the expense of hurting the sport.”
🔹He ended his letter with this sentence: “It is already too late to save his reputation, but it is not too late to save football. He must go immediately.”
