🔸 Last year, 350 aid workers were killed worldwide while on duty

According to the Emergency Workers Security Database (AWSD), last year 350 aid workers around the world lost their lives while carrying out humanitarian missions.

Accordingly, only in the Gaza Strip 186 aid workers and in Sudan 71 aid workers have been killed.

In addition, the figures show that last year 322 aid workers were injured and 235 of them were also abducted.

The Emergency Workers Security Database, whose headquarters are in the UK, is recognized as the main reference for aid organizations and governments to assess international security.

Boris Beirer, a spokesperson for the organization “SOS Children’s Villages,” said in an interview with the German Editorial Network (RND): “Despite the great dangers, aid workers continue to keep the flag of humanitarianism flying in the most difficult conditions.”

Beirer, pointing out that under international law aid workers must be afforded protection, said that therefore it cannot be accepted that they are repeatedly targeted by attacks.
