🔻Kyodo News Agency reports, citing a senior Iranian official whose name it did not disclose that Tehran has proposed that, in exchange for easing sanctions, it will reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days.

The news agency writes that this move is part of Tehran’s efforts to resume talks with Washington in order to achieve a permanent end to the war.

Kyodo, citing the official, wrote that the proposal has also received approval from the Supreme National Security Council and Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic.

According to this report, the proposal has been conveyed to Washington by intermediaries.

The Iranian official said that progress in diplomacy depends on the “seriousness and commitment” of the United States, and that Iran wants signs that would confirm the United States’ readiness to return to negotiations, halt military operations in the Strait of Hormuz, and end the blockade of Iranian ports.

The Iranian official dismissed speculation about a meeting between Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump.
