Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar welcomed a statement by members of the UN Security Council condemning Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia from 22 Tir and attacks on commercial ships from 31 Tir. The members of the Security Council released the statement on Friday, 16 Mordad.
The Security Council warned that the recent actions of the Houthis pose the risk of further escalation of tensions in the region, threaten freedom of navigation, and could undermine efforts to establish peace.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for the Security Council’s emphasis on the necessity of adhering to international law and relevant resolutions. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed its “determination to preserve security and sovereignty” and the right to defend its territory, citizens and infrastructure against the attacks.
The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Qatar’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
